About Pique' Motorsport's Racing Team

What is now known as PIQUE' MOTORSPORT was incorporated in 1994 as a Corporate Platform to support the racing efforts of what was previously called K3 Racing.

The amatuer team, spearheaded by driver Paul E. Hubert and supported by Pit Crew Patrick Chiodo, Rick Canavor, Bruce Faulkner and others, were campaigning Club Formula Fords with the RACE CAR CLUB of AMERICA and the EASTERN MOTOR RACING ASSOCIATION , in the Northeast U.S. since 1990.

Coming out of 'Echo Valley at Bridgehampton

Continuing to race with the RCCA and EMRA, Paul progressed to the upper levels of the Club Ford Divisions in the Super Competitive RCCA winning many titles and awards along the way.

Eventually, the team would make its services and equipment available to new members of the racing fraternity, coaching and instructing fledgling racers experiencing their first taste of ... the Thrill of Open Wheel Competition. These efforts would form the foundation of the FormulaRacer Racing Experience , and the FormulaRacer Driving School.

          PMI's Van Diemen RF88, # 15 Paul E. Hubert

In 1995 PIQUET MOTORSPORT INC. upgraded to the ranks of Formula Ford 2000 competition campaigning a winged Van Diemen RF88. The team now had to learn how to setup and prepare a race car with the added complexity of front and rear aerodynamic wings, a skill that is needed if hopes of progressing to higher professional Formula type racing such as Formula Atlantic or Indy Racing league, are to be achieved.

Waiting to take the Oval at Thompson Speedway

By the middle of the 1998 RCCA American Racing Series Season , the team was in contention for the RCCA's F2000+ Championship! Winning the RCCA's Oval Track Series within a Series by taking wins at The New Thompson Speedway and Stafford Springs Speedway, the Championship came down to the last race of the season at the Pocono International Speedway's Road Circuit. In an epic battle with Alan Chou and his Reynard F2000, Paul won the pole, the qualifier and the feature race to take down the title!

Through it's racing efforts, and other pursuits, the company grew to offer other products and services under the PMI banner...
PMI SALES TRAINING, Automotive and other retail sales systems, including recruiting, screening, sales training, sales team building, motivational and sales seminars.
PIQUET MOTORSPORT INC. "PK SELECT",
A line of 'select' race related products, some exclusive and others used by and approved by our team.

In 1999, along with fellow RCCA competitors James Mitchell and Dr. Lindsey Wolfer, Paul helped to found the successful Formula Pro Racing Series. A sanctioning orginization that holds race events at some of the USA's most highly recognized venues!

Stafford Springs Speed Plant hosts RCCA

The Race Car Club of America's, American Racing Series invaded Nascar Modified territory this weekend when the single seat open wheel speedsters ran race #6 of the 1998 championship chase on the Stafford Springs, Conn. half mile oval.

The Formula 2000+ feature race saw Paul Hubert chauffeur the PMI Sales Training Van Diemen to his second victory in a row on the tricky flat Nascar oval.

Alan Chou was an early race threat in his Reynard F2000+ but soon fell victim to overheating problems allowing Hubert to dominate the event yet again.

In victory circle , Paul commented on the challenging track...." This is a tricky little track, if we had more time here I'm sure we would see times better than the Modifieds all day long!

I would like to thank all the safety workers, especially the ones that didn't have to come out and get me! I had a big wiggle coming out of turn four and I thought I was in the fence for sure. Safety One said he was looking right at me when it happened, he was already rolling to pickup the pieces, luckily I caught it!"

The RCCA's next stop is the Thompson, Conn. High speed oval, yet another Nascar track, on August 29th. Look for Team Hubert to narrow the points gap even more!

AMERICAN RACING SERIES FINALE AT POCONO INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

HUBERT TAKES THE TITLE IN F2000+

THE RACE CAR CLUB OF AMERICA HELD IT'S LAST RACE OF THE NINE RACE SEASON AT POCONO SPEEDWAY IN LONG POND PA. HERE ON SUNDAY OCT 4TH, 1998.

IN THE FF2000+ SEASON LONG BATTLE BETWEEN ALAN CHOU AND PAUL HUBERT EVERYTHING HAD TO GO JUST SO FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE 'SNATCHED FROM THE JAWS OF VICTORY' FOR ALAN CHOU.

GOING INTO THE PREVIOUS RACE THREE WEEKENDS AGO HERE AT POCONO, HUBERT AND CHOU WERE TIED FOR THE POINTS LEAD.

HUBERT QUALIFIED FASTEST AND WON THE POLE SPRINT TO PICKUP A POINT ON THE LEAD, BUT SUFFERED A DNF IN THE FEATURE WHEN AN ELECTRICAL FIRE ON THE THIRD LAP STOPPED THE CHAMP LEADER. PAUL HAD ENOUGH SENSE TO PULL THE CAR OFF THE TRACK AND BAIL OUT BEFORE ANY SERIOUS DAMAGE WAS DONE.

HUBERT SUFFERED SOME SMOKE INHALATION BUT WAS GIVEN A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH LATER THAT DAY.

COMING INTO THIS RACE WEEKEND, CHOU HAD A COMMANDING LEAD IN THE POINTS AND AS HUBERT SAID IN A PRE RACE INTERVIEW..."EVERYTHING HAS TO GO ACCORDING TO A SCRIPT FOR ME TO HAVE A CHANCE AT THE CHAMPIONSHIP. I HAVE TO WIN THE POLE SPRINT, WIN THE FEATURE AND LEAD THE MOST LAPS AND ALAN HAS TO GET NO POINTS AND I'M SURE THAT'S A SCRIPT THAT HE WANTS NO PART OF!"

SUNDAY MORNING DAWNED GREY, RAINY AND COLD AND REMAINED THAT WAY FOR MOST OF THE DAY WITH SHOWERS ON AND OFF . WHILE SOME OF THE COMPETITORS DONNED RAIN TIRES, HUBERT AND CHOU VENTURED OUT INTO PRACTICE AND QUALIFYING WITH SLICKS.
TO MANY OF THE VISITING SCCA RACERS SUPRISE AND DISMAY, HUBERT SET FASTEST QUALIFYING TIME OF THE DAY ON SPEC (READ THAT HARD COMPOUND) HOOSIERS!

HUBERT HAS BEEN KNOWN TO BE A RAIN-MEISTER, AND TODAY WAS NO EXCEPTION!

PAT CHIODO, TEAM HUBERT'S CHEIF MECHANIC SAID..." PAULIE WAS ALL ARMS AND ELBOWS OUT THERE, HE LOOKED LIKE A SPRINT CAR DRIVER SAWING AWAY AT THE WHEEL, I BET YOU HE'S GOT MORE BUGS AND DIRT ON THE SIDE OF THE CAR THAN THE FRONT!"

IN THE POLE SPRINT WITH HUBERT STARTNG FIRST AND CHOU ON THE OUTSIDE POLE, ALAN SPUN ENTERING THE FIRST TURN BUT CAUGHT UP TO GIVE HUBERT, THE EVENTUAL POLE SPRINT WINNER A GOOD RUN.

THINGS STARTED GETTING INTERESTING FOR THE FEATURE, THE WEATHER STARTED TO CLEAR AND ALL HAD TO ADJUST THE SETUPS FOR THE IMPROVING CONDITIONS. THE FEATURE SAW HUBERT AND CHOU AGAIN ONE AND TWO FOR THE START AND A REAL TOOTH AND NAIL BATTLE DEVELOPED BETWEEN THE TWO CONTENDERS.

LEADS WERE SWAPPED FOR FIVE LAPS, THAN ON THE SIXTH LAP, HUBERT USED AN OUTBRAKING MANUEVER ON CHOU COMING OFF THE HIGH BANK INTO THE INFIELD. CHOU GOT UP INTO THE MARBLES AND LOOPED IT INTO THE WALL. MINOR DAMAGE TO THE REAR AN WING BUT JUST ENOUGH TO END HIS DAY AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP BID.

HUBERT WENT ON TO WIN THE RACE AND THE FF2000+ TITLE! ON THE FINAL LAP TAKING THE CHECKER, HUBERT TREATED THE FANS TO A SCHUMACHER-LIKE DOUBLE FIST PUMP WHILE ON THE REV LIMITER PASSING START FINISH!

THE ELATED CHAMP SAID..."I MUST BE LIVING RIGHT, ALAN GAVE ME ALL I COULD HANDLE AND THE BREAKS WENT WITH US, LIKE DANNY SULLIVAN ALWAYS SAYS, I WOULD RATHER BE LUCKY THAN GOOD!" TODAY TEAM HUBERT WAS BOTH.
